There will come a time when you will need to supply a version of your map to someone else who does not use PTMapper.
If they use a different mapping programme (e.g ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapinfo) or CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) then PTMapper has the ability to convert your map to a file type which will work with their software.
PTMapper includes the most popular types:
Shapefiles – (most mapping software will accept these files)
DXF (most CAD software and many mapping programmes will accept this file)
KML (most mapping programmes will accept this file)
MIF/MID (some mapping programmes will accept this file type)
Click on the highlighted file names above for further information.
If they do not have access to mapping or CAD software then PTMapper also has the option to convert the whole map into a Raster file (e.g. BMP or JPG), which can then be inserted into reports in Word, etc.
Alternatively, you could convert your map to a PDF file. You will need to have PDF creation software installed to be able to do this. If you would like help with choosing a suitable PDF package then please call for further details. We recommend a very good Open Source package called PDFCreator, which can also create JPG files).
Note: You may have Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed on your PC. This allows you to view and print PDF’s, it does not create PDF’s.
